my Terrain

saturday, the magnificently inspiring Terrain in Westport, Ct. hosted a fundraiser for the Westport farmers market. several farmers, including muddy feet flower farm, were invited to participate and sell our goods.

for those of you not familiar with Terrain, it is the home and garden store owned by my personal shopping mecca, Anthropologie. There are only two outposts; the flagship store in Philadelphia and Westport. the store is filled with beautiful and expensive garden furniture, plants, terrariums, natural body products, eye candy cookbooks and artisan foods, as well as a chic, european-style cafe and restaurant. but most importantly, it is housed in a lofty old warehouse space with knock-out visual design everywhere you look.

It was a nasty weather day, and I had the good fortune of being positioned in a prominent spot indoors. shoppers snatched up dahlias and harvest bouquets and signed up to order thanksgiving centerpieces. the president of the company popped in for a surprise visit and held court at a large farm table in front of my stand. naturally, he had to buy flowers and after thanking him for supporting the farmers market, I told him that Terrain needed to sell farm fresh cut flowers more regularly. or, more accurately, Terrain needs to sell muddy feet flowers more regularly!

I had a ball chatting with customers and staff and am keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed for another opportunity to be at Terrain.
