so you want to work on a flower farm?


We're Hiring!

Muddy Feet Flower Farm, an organically managed cut flower farm in Ashford, Ct., is hiring two Apprentice positions for the 2015 season:

Farm Apprentice: Works under the tutelage of the farm manager to cultivate cut flower crops from seed to harvest. Responsibilities include: maintaining planting schedule, transplanting, seeding, weeding, fertilizing, watering, pest management, and harvesting. Carpentry skills and knowledge of machinery a plus.

Floral Design Apprentice: Works under the tutelage of the head designer to cut, design and sell 200+ varieties of cut flowers. Responsibilities include: harvesting, conditioning, sanitation, bouquet making, event design, deliveries and farmers market set-up and sales. Some farm work possible. Photography, design/fine arts and social media skills a plus.

All candidates must be independent, self-motivated, passionate, have access to transportation, be willing to work outside in all kinds of weather, and be able to lift 50 pounds. Ideal candidates have interest and/or experience in organic farming, flower growing, landscaping and/or gardening and/or floral design. Paid positions. 20-25 hrs/week.

Muddy Feet Flower Farm is Connecticut’s premier Farmer-Florist, growing over 200 varieties of seasonal cut flowers for weddings, farmers markets, retail, wholesale, and private events. We are a boutique family farm; small enough that our staff has an impact, but experienced enough that we have a lot to teach and share.  Our season runs from May – December, but we are willing to work with student schedules and shorter season contracts.
